Diffusive Corrections to PN Approximations

چکیده
In this paper, we investigate moment methods from a general point of view using an operator notation. This theoretical approach lets us explore the moment closure problem in more detail. This gives rise to a new idea, proposed in [14, 15], of how to improve the well-known PN approximations. We systematically develop a diffusive correction to the PN equations from the operator formulation — the so-called DN approximation. We validate the new approach with numerical examples in one and two dimensions.

Critical behavior of the one-dimensional diffusive pair contact process.
The phase transition of the one-dimensional diffusive pair contact process is investigated by N cluster mean-field approximations and high precision simulations. The N=3,4 cluster approximations exhibit smooth transition line to absorbing state by varying the diffusion rate D with beta(2)=2 mean-field order parameter exponent of the pair density. This contradicts with former N=2 results, where ...
متن کاملThe best uniform polynomial approximation of two classes of rational functions
In this paper we obtain the explicit form of the best uniform polynomial approximations out of Pn of two classes of rational functions using properties of Chebyshev polynomials. In this way we present some new theorems and lemmas. Some examples will be given to support the results.
متن کاملA study on dosimetry accuracy of Strut-Adjust Volume Implant (SAVI) brachytherapy
Introduction: Accelerated Partial Breast Irradiation (APBI) is an effective treatment for breast carcinomas because of its limited number of fractions. Strut-adjusted volume implant (SAVI) is a HDR brachytherapy applicator to deliver the prescription dose with good PTV coverage and acceptable dose to skin, chest wall and organ at risks. Acceptable clinical outcomes depend on a...
متن کاملOrthogonal Polynomials and Polynomial Approximations
3.1.1. Existence and uniqueness. Our immediate goal is to establish the existence of a sequence of orthogonal polynomials. Although we could, in principle, determine the coefficients a j of pn in the natural basis by using the orthogonality conditions (3.1.2), it is computationally advantageous to express pn in terms of lower-order orthogonal polynomials. Let us denote Pn := span { 1, x, x, · ·...
متن کاملLocalization of the complex zeros of parametrized families of polynomials
Let Pn(x) = xm + pm−1(n)x m−1 + · · · + p1(n)x + pm(n) be a parametrized family of polynomials of a given degree with complex coefficients pk(n) depending on a parameter n ∈ Z≥0. We use Rouché’s theorem to obtain approximations to the complex roots of Pn(x). As an example, we obtain approximations to the complex roots of the quintic polynomials Pn(x) = x5 + nx4 − (2n + 1)x3 + (n + 2)x2 − 2x + 1...
